Micro-needling has become a very popular treatment for skin rejuvenation because it produces beautiful results with significantly less trauma to the skin than chemical, surgical, or ablative laser treatments. It works through the creation of micro-channels in the skin, which stimulates a natural healing process. This process results in increased production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are essential in keeping the skin soft, resilient, and toned. Additionally, while the micro-channels are open during the treatment, therapeutic creams and serums such as hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C can be absorbed deep into the skin.
Dr. Faludi uses the advanced Collagen P.I.N. (percutaneous induction needling) system for micro-needling treatments because it has important technological improvements over dermal rollers. With the Collagen P.I.N. the needles are used for only one treatment and their penetration can be adjusted for varying skin thickness. Additionally, the small area of the needling surface, its vertical action, and the rapid needle vibration allow for greater precision and significantly less epidermal damage than what occurs with a dermal roller. Finally, with this system Dr. Faludi is able to penetrate to a depth that achieves the effects of a cosmetic PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatment without the additional cost associated with that procedure.
Dr. Faludi applies a numbing cream prior to micro-needling treatments, and most patients report little or no sensation during the procedure. This treatment is completed in the office in under an hour, and you will be given a special set of skincare products to use for the first two days post-treatment. Because the micro-channels are closed by the time you leave the office, downtime is minimal. You will look and feel as though you have a mild sunburn for a few hours after the procedure, and some patients experience several days of peeling.
